Blogging for Business

A couple of weeks ago I had a conversation with someone who made the comment, “Blogs are oversaturated and they just put out content that is already available.” I got to thinking about that statement. As a virtual assistant and marketing specialist, I do believe that blogs are very important for wedding and photography businesses, but it got me thinking about why I believe blogging is so important so I wanted to create a post dispelling that myth and provide you with five powerful reasons creating and maintaining a blog is essential in helping you boost your photography or wedding business.

A Blog Helps You Establish your personal brand & build trust with your audience

Have you ever heard the saying, “People buy from people.”? Think about the brands that you love the most. Why do you like them so much? It’s probably because you connect with them in some way or you trust that what they are offering will provide value to your life. The same principles apply to your wedding business and one of the best ways to communicate that value and build trust with your audience is through your blog.

Your blog is a chance to educate and inform your customers while also showcasing your personality. It allows you to display your work through photos (something that would otherwise be hidden outside of an occasional social media post) and also showcase your personality through your writing.

By maintaining a consistent blogging strategy, you also position yourself to be an expert in your field. The more valuable content you create that educates and entertains your audience, the more people will want to read what you have to say. This results in stronger relationships and trust with your readers by showing them what you are capable of delivering and how you can help meet their needs.

Blogs Help Maximize Your Website SEO

SEO or search engine optimization is crucial when it comes to blogging and the nerd in me gets so excited when it comes to this step of the blogging process. Your SEO determines how much your blog or website will get shown to readers so it is crucial to make sure your blog is set up and optimized correctly. But, before I go off too far on that tangent, let’s talk about how maximizing SEO for blogs can boost your business.

First, blogs provide multiple points of entry to your website. Now people don’t just have to search for you directly in order to find you they can now find you by searching any number of terms or keywords. For example, you can have a blog post that talks about the best places to elope in California, and someone could find you by searching for the term “California Elopements.” They may have never heard about you or your business before, but by creating blogs about multiple topics, you create numerous ways for people to find your site.

A blog can also help your website rank higher on Google allowing you to reach more people and generate more leads. When you create high-quality, valuable content that your audience wants to read, more people will read it and share your content. The more your content is read and shared, the more traffic Google sees on your site and the more likely they are to recognize your content as something people want to read, thus pushing it up higher on the page ranks. As you can see, this is an endless cycle that can keep continuing in your favor.

There are so many reasons blogging can help your SEO but the last one I’ll leave you with for now is that blogging helps keep your website fresh. It is best practice to update your website regularly by updating photos, links, or text, and blogging is just another way to update your site and provide fresh content that keeps people interested and coming back for more.

Blogs Allow You To Showcase your work

As you spend time in your industry or niche, you are going to continue to learn and grow. With each new client, you will expand your knowledge and hone in on your skills. Over time, you will be able to look back and see how far you have progressed in your work, and with a blog, your readers are also able to watch that growth. With each new post you publish, they see exactly what you have to offer and what is possible if they want to work with you.

A blog also allows you to share details of the day that people might not have otherwise known about, laying it out in a way that tells the whole story. Instead of just showing a handful of photos, you can also create a story with your words. Maybe there was a really sweet moment with a loved one or a funny memory from the wedding day. No matter what it is, blogging allows you to use your words to create a fuller picture of the couple’s journey and their wedding day.

Blogs Are Great Resources to share with clients

What better way to show potential clients what you’re all about than through a blog? Similar to the point above, a blog allows you to showcase your work not only to past or prospective clients but also to current clients as well. Chances are your clients may ask you some of the same questions throughout the process of working with you and a great way to save time and automate your response is to create blog posts that answer those commonly asked questions. This helps provide your clients with a detailed and informative response to their questions while not requiring you to spend time crafting an individual response each time.

Blogs Help power your Pinterest & give you Content to Share on Instagram

The benefits of blogging don’t just stop once your blog has been published. After you send out a blog post, you now have additional content that you can share on Pinterest and social media. You can create multiple pins to be scheduled throughout the week/month and you can share snippets or recaps of the blog on Instagram through stories, reels, and posts. Creating complementary content can help your work be seen on multiple different platforms allowing you to reach a wider audience.

As you can see there are many reasons why blogging is so important and is a great way to help boost your photography or wedding business. But, what do you think? Is blogging a part of your marketing strategy?
